...99 goals in my life!

i took a class at UCLA during my fall 2006 quarter and made this list of 99 goals to accomplish. here is the prompt and list, many of which i am still committed to or accomplished already:

List everything that you wish to achieve and experience in your life. Write down as many goals as you can – at least 99 goals for your life. Dream big! Go wild! Don’t compromise at all: write down all of your dreams and aspirations here, no matter how ambitious or idealistic. Pursue your passions and highest visions!

Become the first Pilipino President of the United States of America (if there has not been one already)
Take an active role in establishing identity based on campus housing at UCLA
Learn how to speak, read and write Spanish and Tagalog (a Pilipino dialect)
Develop a holistic curriculum that could be used for developing/politicizing young student organizers that teaches/facilitates understanding about their own identity, issues facing their respective communities while giving them a sense of their own student power through advocacy and direct action organizing
Direct a high school dance team and help create a different image of what a “dancer” is and looks like
Create a presentation/write a paper on the complications of being a queer person of color in higher education
Become Activities Director for my high school Alma Mater (Florin High School in Sacramento) OR provide scholarships for those who participate in Florin High’s Associated Student Body
Become an organizer for a labor union, community based organization or some non profit
Be a part of the campaign that repeals Proposition 209 (a 1996 California ballot proposition which amended the state Constitution to prohibit public institutions from using Affirmative Action) and other similar initiatives in other states
Create the new “meta narrative” for Affirmative Action and a new way to message what Affirmative Action is and how it benefits historically oppressed and marginalized communities
Apply to be the University of California Student Regent and serve as at least one term as a Regent (student or not) in my lifetime
Create a comprehensive family tree that will go back at least four generations and include information like if they served in the military, special accomplishments, different things they were known for
Learn know to play an instrument, specifically the guitar or piano
Learn how to use html and create my own website (online resume, for student organizations or groups that I am a part of)
Go skydiving!
Earn a 4.0 grade point average at least one quarter of my undergraduate career
Establish a Progressive Christian Students organization at UCLA
Serve as an Assistant Resident Director for the Office of Residential Life at UCLA or another Residential Life Program
Become a staff member of a Student Association like the University of California Student Association (UCSA) or the United States Student Association (USSA)
Educate myself and/or take stronger stances on the following issues: Conflict in the Middle East, Student Workers Unionizing, Same Sex Marriage & Military Recruitment
Master basic break dancing moves: Six step, Windmill, Flare, Up rock & Down rock
Learn how to do a triple pirouette and do consistently
Read the whole Chronicles of Narnia Series by C.S. Lewis
Help lead a revolution/campaign that will organize Wal-Mart employees and create a union for them
Create a drink combination to be used at barsLearn how to fold at least 5 different shapes in Origami
Memorize all 50 states (in the USA) and each of their capitals
Publish an autobiography of my life when I am at least 50 years old
Master the Rubik’s Cube
Discover the truth of the OJ Simpson Trial
Find a cure for Cancer (specifically Colon & Breast Cancer)
Understand the immigration story of my parents and my grandparents (through the eyes of my parents)
Create a music video with Justin Timberlake and Missy Elliot
Produce a record with Timbaland, Lauryn Hill and Kanye West
Without paying any money to the university, have a building be named after Me or something that I choose
Design a ride that will be used at a popular amusement park: Disneyland, Six Flags, Knott’s Berry Farm
Have my own leadership consulting and motivational speaker business
Be a keynote speaker at my High School’s Nominating Convention (equivalent to a party’s convention and primary elections)
Serve as an organizer for one of the Pilipino based, community based organizations: Pilipino Worker Center, People’s Community Organization for Reform and Empowerment, Festival of Philippine Art & Culture, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans, Filipinos for Affirmative Action and any other Pilipino organization
Memorize a Shakespeare Play
Eventually at some point by a Porsche for my mom and dad
Run a marathon!
Study abroad in the Philippines for a summer program about language and history (hopefully this upcoming summer)
Travel the world in a year without working, going to school or worrying about what I am doing the next day
Build a house that can be turned into a homeless shelter
Help fund a children’s center that could be used as a studying location, dance practice area (for dance teams), to take naps/rest, etc., preferably in South Sacramento or Elk Grove
Intern for someone's office in Washington DC
Have my own Polo shirt line that is sold at Macy’s or some department store
Volunteer to work the polls at least once before 30 years old
Learn how to cook some traditional Pilipino dishes: Adobo, Pancit, and Calderetta (just to name a few)
Have a part time job on the weekends as a Radio Personality for a Hip Hop or Top 40 radio station in the Bay Area or New York
Maintain constant community with my parents and sister
Create an acapella group that would sing only Disney songs and perform during Winter Breaks at Disneyland or Disneyworld
Watch a UCLA vs USC game in person that UCLA will win
Have a one on one conversation with President George Bush and try to understand his rationale
for different decisions he has made
Convince my mom from purchasing anything from Starbucks for a whole year
Raise one boy and one girl who will attend an institute of higher education and give back to their community through direct action organizing or advocacy of some sort
Fight my asthma and hopefully grow out of it before I turn thirty years old
Be a part of the campaign to repeal the Food and Drug Administration policy that does not allow gay men who have had sex with other men or women who have had sex with men who have had sex with other men
Be a contestant on Jeopardy and/or Wheel of Fortune
Be a contestant on So, you think you could dance? and/or American Idol
Be one of the judges for So, you think you could dance and/or American Idol (but not be as mean as Simon)
Learn how to knit and knit a scarf for my mother and sister
Overcoming my fear of heights (batophobia) and snakes (ophidiophobia)
Make a basket at the half court line
Memorize the lyrics of both John Legend CDs (Get Lifted and Once Again)
Learn a song in Arabic
Learn sign language and serve as an interpreter at local community events
Write for a newspaper
Establish a Campus Safety Alliance at UCLA
Serve as a school board member (and potentially Superintendent) for the Elk Grove Unified School District
Attend a UCLA Men’s Volleyball Game, Women’s Gymnastics Meet, Men’s Soccer Game and a Men’s Golf Game (I already have been to a Football game)
Go kayaking at the Marina Del Ray
Attend a Bon Fire at Dockweiler Beach with people that I care about (close friends and family), have smores and tell stories (ghost stories and personal ones too!)
Go to the Erotic Museum in Hollywood (I never knew one existed until recently—I do not even know what they would display?)
Work on a electoral campaign that elects a new California Governor
Produce and direct a movie that is about the life and struggle of my fifth grade teacher Monica Ariaz, who until this day is one of my most valued role models
Visit the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC and tell Abraham Lincoln that “Slavery Still Exists”
Host Winter and Spring Student Organization Recruitment Fairs with at least 50 students groups and 5 performances present
Read The Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle and be able to relate it to my experiences within the Labor Movement and working with the UCLA Labor Center
Get a Chinese character (Peace? Honor?) tattooed on my arm
Record a track with Tupac or the Notorious B.I.G and have it be on the Top 40
Own one of my own restaurants that has a rotating menu between Pilipino, Chinese, Greek, Hawaiian and Thai food
Be a featured silhouette for an iPod advertisement
Do research on Transgender Housing Policy and Options and make a presentation to the Office of Residential Life, Housing and Hospitality Services and Student Affairs
Participate in a spelling bee my post undergraduate career (is there even such a competition that exists for folks who are older?)
Be a bear wear model for the magazine that showcases all the UCLA attire
Be a milk moustache model for a milk advertisement
Learn the Mrs. Fields recipe for her cookies and be able to bake them for any occasion
Be able to do my own taxes when I get older (and help close friends and family with theirs at no cost)
Develop an application/admissions process for higher education that is as `objective as possible (and will look at “merit”, potential and experiences in the context of their community and living situations)
Work at the UCLA or Berkeley Labor Center for at least one year as a programming assistant or Student Affairs officer helping facilitate with other social justice student organizations
Better understand my Pilipino American identity as it relates to my Asian American identity and how I can better organize both the Pilipino and Asian American communities
Read a New Kings James version of the Bible in its entirety in less than one year
Develop a cell phone battery that lasts longer than four hours of talking time
Work for the UCLA Call Center
Try every flavor at Baskin Robbins (and yes, there are more than 31 flavors—there are actually about 500 or so that are still produced)
Be in the Guinness Book of World Records

hey i remember i saw you making this? or maybe you had already finished it and mentioned it to me.

and i remember wanting to do this too, but i forgot all about it!

anyway. i think i'll go start it now. haha.
